A little about the road where our marina is located …..
Great Bay Blvd., also known as 7 Bridges Road actually only has 5 bridges……Bridges 6 and 7 were never built.
The 4 mile peninsula was to be connected to Brigantine then to Atlantic City during the early 1900’s. If completed, it would of saved 20 miles of driving to get to Atlantic City.
There are a few reasons it wasn’t completed –
#1 – It was going to cost millions to complete the bridges (over $35 million in today dollars).
#2 – The water was too deep – about 40 foot – which made it much harder to complete the connection.
#3 -It was volatile around the inlet and the powers that be worried about shifting and the land sinking. This would have caused flooding and the road to be washed out at times.
It would have been nice if it had been completed, but now it is just a road into our pristine wifelife preserve.

Rented kayaks at your place around 20 years ago. Have been in love with that road and surrounding beauty ever since!

Cool to know !

That’s pretty cool never new whole story

TU Went There Growing Up Fishing With My Dad RIP Fun Times He Would Rent a Boat From Captain Rands and Captain Mikes That Was 65 Years Ago 👌

Very cool Thanks for sharing!

Better this way! It’s beautiful all the way back on that road unless you have tailgaters! People need to slow down and enjoy this gem! AND WATCH FOR THE TURTLES 🐢

Interesting!!

Fluke season kicked off today 5/2 and will run through 9/27.

The 2022 fluke season opened with a bang at Captain Mikes this Monday. Gino, Justin, Jalen, Derek and Alainna racked up 11 fish in total (shown above).

Other rental and slip customers reported limiting out on flounder, mainly fishing in the back bay. One angler was targeting fluke and ended up catching a 30lb bass in 3 foot of water!

It’s safe to say the season opener for fluke was not only productive but eventful too.

In case you missed it, for the first time in New Jersey fluke fishing history a slot limit was added. Here’s what else changed since last season:

  • Two fish slot between 17-17.99 inches
  • One fish 18 inches or greater
  • Season opens Monday May 2nd
  • Season closes Tuesday September 27th

Many anglers were up in arms over the recent changes in regulations. While it’s impossible to appeal to every angler, the change in regulations seem to favor the back bay angler opposed to ocean based anglers.

Apparently these changes won’t be a problem for those fishing the Great Bay. The weather forecast is providing plenty of windows in the next ten days.

Give us a call at (609) 296-4406 to book your rental boat and let’s go fishing!
