Very cool. Thanks for sharing.
Not a real image of NJ. New Jerseys shore line looks nothing like that.
With wind mills, pumping sand on the outer beaches all that sand goes into the bays making it shallow.great bay is over 2 ft shallower in the lastc20 yrs.mean low was 9ft when I bought my house now 6 ish.Must really effect the flow going out.
☀️🎣 What a beautiful day on Great Bay! 🎣☀️
The bay was alive today with boats on the water, anglers reeling in fish, and plenty of sunshine to go around.
Congratulations to Joe Bloniaez, who landed a beautiful 4.8 lb. fluke, and his fishing buddy Doni Richardson, who brought in a nice 3.2 lb. fluke while fishing out of Captain Mike’s.
The fishing has been great, the weather couldn’t be better, and the smiles say it all!

Are they catching Winter Flounder in the bay anymore?

The 2022 fluke season opened with a bang at Captain Mikes this Monday. Gino, Justin, Jalen, Derek and Alainna racked up 11 fish in total (shown above).
Other rental and slip customers reported limiting out on flounder, mainly fishing in the back bay. One angler was targeting fluke and ended up catching a 30lb bass in 3 foot of water!
It’s safe to say the season opener for fluke was not only productive but eventful too.
In case you missed it, for the first time in New Jersey fluke fishing history a slot limit was added. Here’s what else changed since last season:
- Two fish slot between 17-17.99 inches
- One fish 18 inches or greater
- Season opens Monday May 2nd
- Season closes Tuesday September 27th
Many anglers were up in arms over the recent changes in regulations. While it’s impossible to appeal to every angler, the change in regulations seem to favor the back bay angler opposed to ocean based anglers.
Apparently these changes won’t be a problem for those fishing the Great Bay. The weather forecast is providing plenty of windows in the next ten days.
